The Matter Balance Summary Report in Lawcus provides users with a comprehensive financial snapshot of each matter within a selected period. This report offers essential information such as an overview of outstanding receivables, work in progress, expenses, and overheads on a per-client or matter basis.

You can filter the report based on the following:

Responsible Attorneys

Easily view matters that are specifically being handled by a desired attorney, allowing you to focus on their workload and progress.

Select Client

Gain access to a concise balance summary solely for matters that belong exclusively to the chosen client. This filter helps you closely monitor the financial aspects of each client's cases.

Group Results By

Organize the matter balance summaries either on a per-client or per-attorney basis. This feature enables you to analyze the data from different perspectives, providing a comprehensive overview of the distribution of matters and workload.

Matter Status

Tailor your report by including or excluding matters based on their current status—whether they are open or closed. This filter ensures that you focus solely on the matters that are relevant to your analysis.

Select Practice Area

Limit the balance summaries to matters within the designated practice area. This filter allows you to narrow down your report to specific legal domains, enabling targeted analysis and evaluation.

Date Range

Restrict the results to matters that fall within the selected period. This filter lets you focus on matters that are recent or occurred within a specific timeframe, helping you track progress, identify trends, and make informed decisions.

Navigating to the Matter Balance Summary Report Interface

To access the matter balance summary report interface, follow these steps:

  1. Click "Dashboard" on the side menu from anywhere on Lawcus.

  2. Select Reports.

  3. Navigate to "Matter Balance Summary"

Filtering the Matter Balance Summary Data

To filter the matter balance summary results according to your preferences, follow these steps:

  1. Click the "Filter" button.

  2. Choose the desired metrics to filter the details featured in the report.

  3. Close the window once you have finished filtering.

    Note: To remove previously-selected filters, click the "X" button.

Generating a Matter Balance Summary Report in PDF Format

To generate a matter balance summary report in PDF format, proceed as follows:

  1. Click the "Download PDF" button.

  2. Choose "Save File" and then click "OK."

  3. Open the downloaded report using any desired software.

Running a Matter Balance Summary Report in CSV Format

To run a matter balance summary report in CSV format, follow these steps:

  1. Click the "Download CSV" button.

  2. Choose "Save File" and then click "OK."

  3. Open the report using any spreadsheet software.

Note: By default, this report does not display the Client Trust Balance. To view it, you need to check the checkbox designated for it.
