On Lawcus, the Matter Balance Summary Report comes in handy for users as it gives a financial snapshot of each matter within the selected period. It provides vital information such as an amount overview of outstanding receivables, work in progress, in addition to expenses and overheads in progress, all on a per-client or matter basis.

You can filter the report based on:

Responsible Attorneys

View only matters being handled by a desired attorney

Select Client

Check out the balance summary for matters strictly belonging to the chosen client

Group Results By

Organize the matter balance summaries on a per-client or attorney basis

Matter Status

Include or exclude matters based on their current status - whether open or close

Select Practice Area

Limit the balance summaries to matters in the designated practice area

Date Range

Restrict the results to matters that fall within the period selected

Navigating to matter balance summary report interface

To navigate to matter balance summary report interface:

  1. From anywhere on Lawcus, click Dashboard on the side-menu


  2. Tap Reports


  3. Navigate to Matter Balance Summary


Filtering matter balance summary data

To filter matter balance summary results s desired:

  1. Tap the Filter button


  2. Choose metric(s) to filter details that's featured in the report


  3. Close the window once done filtering



    Note: Clicking the X button removes previously-selected filters


Generating a matter balance summary report in PDF format

To generate a matter balance summary report in PDF format:

  1. Click the Download PDF button


  2. Tap Save File and then Ok


  3. Open up the downloaded report with any desired software


Running a matter balance summary report in CSV format

To run a matter balance summary report in CSV format:

  1. Click the Download CSV button


  2. Tap Save File and then Ok


  3. Open the report with any spreadsheet software


Note: Client Trust Balance is not displayed by default in this report. You have to check the checkbox to display it
