Getting started with Lawcus involves managing your organization effectively, which is essential for maintaining confidentiality and security. When you manage an organization, you are essentially managing the team and, more specifically, the users. In this article, we'll explore key features and best practices that can help you streamline your organization's processes and tasks within Lawcus.

Managing Your Organization in Lawcus:

  1. Click on the "Avatar" icon and select "Manage your organization."

  2. Under "Manage team," from the left side menu, choose "Roles & Permissions."

  3. Note:

    a. "Roles & Permissions" is designed to manage access provisioning among users or user groups.

    b. Two system-defined roles exist under "Roles and Permissions": "Admin" and "Member." You cannot edit these roles, even as an Admin, to avoid confusion and potential issues with admin access.

  4. Create new custom roles by clicking on "New Role." Set a role name, customize the permission list, and, if necessary, restrict access by IP address for enhanced security. Learn more about creating & assigning user roles here.

  5. Manage users by clicking on "Users."

    a. Add new users by selecting the "+ New User" option. Learn more.

  6. On the right side of the user list row, click the "Edit" button to edit roles, mark users as active or inactive, and maintain user-specific custom hourly rates.

  7. Create user groups by clicking on "User groups." Assign different users to various groups based on requirements to maintain smooth and easy access provisioning. This eliminates the need to add roles and permissions to individual users.

  8. Click on "+ New Group" to create new user groups. When creating a user group, select the users to be part of that group and assign the role at this stage to avoid confusion later.

  9. Manage job titles for different users by clicking on "Job Titles." You can also define job titles using the LEDES 1998B Classification system.

By following these steps, you can optimize the organization management process within Lawcus, ensuring confidentiality, security, and efficient task management for your team.
