Overview

Automating trust and credit requests in Lawcus helps reduce manual work and ensures accuracy. With Workflows, requests can be generated automatically based on specific triggers, keeping your firm’s financial processes efficient and consistent.

Step 1: Navigate to Workflows

  • Go to the Automation tab in Lawcus

  • Select Workflows from the left-side panel

  • Click + New Workflow

This is where you will configure your automation.

Step 2: Choose a Trigger

Triggers define when the workflow will run.

Select a trigger event based on your firm’s process, such as:

  • When a Matter is Created

  • When a Matter Stage is Changed

  • When a Task is Completed

The trigger ensures that your trust or credit request is generated at the right moment.

Step 3: Add an Action

Once the trigger is set:

  • Click Add Action

  • Choose Create Trust/Credit Request (depending on your use case)

This action tells Lawcus what should happen when the workflow is triggered.

Step 4: Configure Request Details

In the action setup panel, define the required details:

  • Select the Billing Contact and the matter

  • Enter the Requested Amount (fixed value or number type custom field)

  • Add a Description or Note (e.g., Initial Retainer or Replenish Balance)

For credit requests, similar fields can be configured based on your accounting setup.

Step 5: Save and Activate

After configuring your workflow:

  • Review all settings carefully

  • Click Save

  • Then click Activate and Update.

You can add as many actions as needed after/before creating the credit or trust request, depending on your workflow requirements.

For example, you can set up a reminder for yourself, create a task, send emails with the requests

This helps you build a more complete and automated process around your requests.
