Search matters, contacts, and leads from one place with simple steps

Global Search is a unified search tool that looks across multiple modules at the same time. Instead of navigating to individual sections (Contacts, Matters, Leads), you can enter a keyword and view results grouped by module.

Global Search allows you to find matters, contacts, and leads from anywhere in Lawcus using a single search bar. It is located at the top of the application and is accessible across all pages.

What is Searchable

Global Search retrieves results from the following modules:

1. Matters

Search includes:

  • Matter Name

  • Matter Display Number

2. Contacts

Search includes all contact types:

  • Clients (with current or past matters)

  • Related Contacts (linked to matters)

  • Potential Clients (created through leads)

Search fields:

  • Contact Name

  • Company Name

  • Email addresses (all stored emails)

  • Phone numbers (all stored numbers)

3. Leads

Search includes:

  • Lead Name


How to Use Global Search

Step 1: Open Global Search

  • Click on the search bar at the top of the screen

Step 2: Enter a Search Term

  • Type a keyword such as:

    • Name (person or company)

    • Email address

    • Phone number

    • Matter name or number

Step 3: View Results

  • Results are grouped into:

    • Matters

    • Contacts

    • Leads

  • Each section shows up to 5 results

Step 4: Open a Record

  • Left click on a result to open it

  • Right click on a result to open it in a new tab


Using “Show More”

If more than 5 results are available in a category:

  • Click Show More under the module (e.g., Contacts)

  • A detailed results window will open

  • Use the search bar inside this window to refine results further

This helps when the result set is large.


Additional Options

1. Customize Module Order

You can choose the order in which results appear:

Example: Contacts → Matters → Leads

This affects how results are displayed in Global Search.
To change the order:

  1. Click the gear icon in the Global Search bar

  2. Drag and drop the modules to reorder them according to your preference

  3. Apply changes to save the order

2. Include or Exclude Closed Records

You can control whether search results include:

  • Closed Matters or Leads

  • Limit results to only open records.

3. Recent Search History

  • Global Search stores your last 10 searches

  • Click into the search bar to view and reuse them


Search Result

Each result includes additional information to help identify the correct record:

  • Matters

    • Matter Name

    • Client Name

    • Matter Number

    • Status

  • Contacts

    • Contact Name

    • Company

    • Email(s)

    • Phone Number(s)

  • Leads

    • Lead Name

    • Organization

    • Status


Summary

Global Search allows you to:

  • Search across Matters, Contacts, and Leads at once

  • Access all contact types, including Potential Clients

  • Open records directly or in a new tab

  • Refine large result sets using Show More

  • Customize how results are displayed

  • Reuse recent searches

This helps reduce the need to navigate between modules and speeds up record lookup.
