Lawcus allows you to create bank accounts on the platform for record-keeping and financial management. These accounts help organize transactions and track payments inside Lawcus.
If you are using a payment integration, you may also connect your actual bank account so transactions can be recorded and managed more efficiently.
Creating a Bank Account in Lawcus
To create a bank account:
Open the
Billingtab from the left-side navigation panel.Select
Accountsfrom the top menu.Click
New Accounton the right-hand side.
Enter the account information, including:
Account name
Bank details
Account type
(Operating or Trust)Whether the account should be marked as default
Save the changes.
If needed, repeat the same process to create an additional account type.
Note:
You can create multiple accounts in Lawcus; however, only one Operating account and one Trust account can be set as the default account at a time.
Bank accounts created in Lawcus are for managing and recording financial activity within Lawcus. They are not automatically connected to your actual bank account.
Understanding the Difference Between Account Types
Operating Account
An Operating Account is used for your firm’s day-to-day business and payment transactions.
You can use it to manage:
Direct payments
Credit card payments
Client invoice payments
Day-to-day financial transactions
Operating funds
The Operating Account is generally used as the primary account for your firm’s regular financial activity.
Trust Account (Retainer Account)
A Trust Account is used to hold client funds that are intended for future use.
Common examples include:
Client retainers
Advance deposits
Funds reserved for future billing
Client balances held separately from operating funds
Funds held in a Trust Account can later be applied toward invoices or other charges when needed.
