When using Lawcus for document automation and copying merge fields into your word processing software, you may notice that the merge fields have a shaded background, which can affect the formatting of your document.

To remove the shaded background in Microsoft Word, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the "Find" button: In Microsoft Word, locate the "Find" button in the toolbar. It typically looks like a magnifying glass or simply click on “Ctrl + F”.

2. Input the "$" symbol in the search bar: In the search bar that appears, enter the "$" symbol. This will help you find all the copied merge fields in your document.

3. Locate and highlight a copied merge field: The search results will highlight each instance of the copied merge field. Click on one of the merge fields to select it.

4. Click the "Clear All Formatting" button: In Microsoft Word, there is a button called "Clear All Formatting" that allows you to remove any formatting applied to the selected text. It is usually represented by an eraser icon or can be found in the "Home" and "Font" tab of the toolbar. Click on this button to remove the shaded background from the selected merge field.

5. Repeat the process for all copied merge fields: After clearing the formatting for one merge field, continue with the next instance by clicking on it and repeating step 4. Repeat this process until you have removed the shaded background from all the copied merge fields in your document.

By following these steps, you can successfully remove the shaded background from the copied merge fields in your document, resulting in a cleaner and more professional formatting.

Note: The specific steps may vary depending on the version of Microsoft Word you are using. If you are using a different word processing software, refer to its documentation or support resources for instructions on how to clear formatting or remove shading from selected text.
