Creating invoices on Lawcus is a breeze with various options available to you. You can choose from several places to initiate the process, select invoice templates, add time and expense entries, apply tax and discounts, and perform other invoicing actions. Let's take a look at different ways to create an invoice on Lawcus.
Creating Invoices from the Work-in-Progress window on Dashboard
Go to the
Dashboard.Locate the
Work in Progressbox and clickClick to Create Invoice.Select the
Checkboxfor the matter you want to create an invoice & clickNext.Addall necessary details,Applyrequired Inputs, and then click onCreate.
Note: You can filter your required un-invoiced information based on Client, Matter, Date, Billing Type, Practice Area, Matter Tags, Billing Attorney, Responsible Timekeeper, Originating Timekeeper, etc.
Creating Invoices from Matter
Go to
Mattersfrom the left-side menu.Click on the
Matter Cardfor which you want to create an invoice.Scroll down to the
Financial Infosection on the right, and clickCreate invoice.Select between (all) Time Entries, Expenses, or Flat Fees and click on
Create Invoicefurther.Inputall necessary details,Applyrequired inputs, and clickSave.
When creating an invoice, you can customize how it is displayed and processed using the Invoice Options:
Show Trust Balance: Displays the trust account balance on the invoice.
Show Operating Balance: Displays the operating account balance on the invoice.
Show Payments: Lists payments already made by the client.
Show Outstanding Invoices: Displays any linked unpaid invoices.
Skip Approval Process: If enabled, the invoice will bypass the approval process, even if approvals are required at the organization level.
Disable Reminder: If enabled, reminders will not be sent for this invoice, even if reminders are active at the organization level.
Creating Invoices from the Billing Tab
Navigate to
Billingfrom the left side-menu. SelectInvoices Tabif not selected.Click on the
New Invoicebutton on the right.Select the
Client,Matter,Addall the requited details,Applyrequired inputs & create your invoice by following the on-screen instructions.Finally, click on
Save.
Note: Once you select a Client and Matter, you will see the option 'Add uninvoiced activity for 'Matter Name.' Click on it to add all uninvoiced items directly.
In case, you don't have any uninvoiced activity, click on +Add button under Flat Fees, Time Entries, & Expense Entries to add an entry and bill client directly.
Create Bulk Invoices in Lawcus
Bulk invoicing in Lawcus allows you to efficiently generate multiple invoices for billing multiple clients at the end of your law firm's billing cycle. This feature simplifies the process of filtering unbilled activities and creating bulk invoices that can be sent to the respective clients.
Follow the steps below to create bulk invoices effortlessly:
Follow the
Work-in-Progresswindow on theDashboard, & click onClick to Create InvoiceOR go to theBillingsection, click on theDropdownoption next toNew Invoice, and selectBillable Clients.In the list of matters, locate &
SelecttheCheckboxfor each matter you want to include in the bulk invoices. Alternatively, you can select the first checkbox to select all matters automatically.You can
Filteryour required un-invoiced information based on Client, Matter, Date, Billing Type, Practice Area, Matter Tags, Billing Attorney, Responsible Timekeeper, Originating Timekeeper, etc.Once you have made your selections, please click on the
Nextbutton.It will show you the
Number of Invoicesgenerated. At this stage, you can alsoApply Funds,Add Notes,Apply Taxes, selectTemplates, select aCurrency, and select theDetail Level.Finally, click on the
Createbutton to bulk-create the invoices.
Bulk Invoicing Note: It is to be noted that all specifications you apply on Step 5 will be applied to all invoices you are generating in this process.
Note: All invoices created in Lawcus will have a QR code for the payment. The clients can quickly navigate to the payment page by scanning the QR code from any device for ease of payment.

Answer: You can find the payment link for each invoice within the invoice's interface. Follow the steps below to easily share the invoice with clients via SMS or email, enabling quick payment.

Answer: Yes, our invoices generated through Lawcus include clickable payment links for convenient and quick payments.
FAQ3: Where do I add an online payment link for invoices?
Answer: You don't need to add an invoice link manually. It is added automatically when you send the invoice to your client.
FAQ4: Can a client directly make partial online payments after receiving an invoice?
Answer: Yes, Users can enter the payment amount by clicking on the editable field in the payment interface.
FAQ5: I’m unable to save an invoice even though everything seems set up. What should I do?
Answer: This may happen if the Country field is missing in the Company Information section. Ensure your firm’s complete address is added in Lawcus under Settings > Firm Settings > Company Info or directly in the invoice, as all fields in Company Information are mandatory.
FAQ6: I applied available funds to an invoice, but it's not showing. What should I do?
Answer: Please wait until saving the invoice. Once saved, the applied funds will be immediately reflected.
FAQ6: Can I Consolidate Two Matters into One Invoice for Client Convenience on Lawcus?
Answer: If you're looking to send a single invoice for multiple matters to a client in Lawcus, unfortunately, this is not a feature that is currently available.
