How to Efficiently Filter Matters in Lawcus?

Filtering matters in Lawcus provides you with the ability to view matters that meet specific criteria, allowing for a more organized and focused workflow and efficient data analysis while making informed decisions. This article will guide you through the process of effectively filtering matters based on different parameters within the system.

To filter matters in Lawcus:

1. Navigate to the Matters section, which can be found in the left-handed menu of the Lawcus interface.

2. Locate and click on the "Filter" option located on the extreme right-hand side of the screen. This will open the filtering dialog box.

3. Within the filtering dialog box, you have the option to choose from various filter criteria.

4. Once you have selected the desired filters, the matters that meet the specified criteria will exclusively appear on your display, helping you streamline your workflow and focus on relevant information.

5. To close the filtering dialog box, simply click on the "X" button.

Let's explore each criterion and how it can be used:

Filter by Client

Choose a client from the dropdown menu to view all matters associated with that particular client. Type a few letters of the client name and you will see the concise dropdown list to select the desired client.

Filter by Matter

If a matter has multiple versions or is divided into several parts, you can select the original matter from the dropdown menu to exclusively view those related matters. Similar to the clients, you can also type a few letters of the matter name to select the desired matter or just scroll through the list.

Filter by Member

Select a member from the dropdown menu to filter matters that are being handled by a specific member, such as an outside counsel or secretary. Scroll through the entire list or type a few letters of the member to narrow down the list.

Filter by Practice Area

Choose a practice area from the dropdown menu to view matters categorized according to specific practice areas.

Filter by Billing Type

For efficient record-keeping and accounting purposes, you can filter matters based on different billing types like Flat Fee or Hourly etc.

Filter by Originating Attorney

Use this filter to gather bonus collation data by selecting an originating attorney and viewing the number of matters they have brought to the firm. Note that this is one use case of this data but you may use it for other purposes as well.

Filter by Responsible Attorney

Filter matters based on the responsible attorney assigned to them, allowing you to see the number of ongoing matters being managed and supervised by a specific attorney. Note that this is one use case of this data but you may use it for other purposes as well.

Filter by Tags

Utilize tags previously associated with matters to filter and categorize matters accordingly.

Filter by Referred By

This filter allows you to view matters based on the clients who referred them. This could be a person or entity.

Filter by Location

This criterion allows you to filter matters based on their geographic location, which can be useful for cases with specific jurisdiction requirements or regional considerations.

Filter by Open Date

Filter matters based on their opening date, enabling you to focus on matters that were opened within a specific time frame.

Filter by Statute of Limitations

Use this filter to view matters based on their statute of limitations, ensuring that you prioritize cases with approaching deadlines.

Filter by Related Matters

This filter allows you to view matters that are related or connected to each other, enabling you to manage interconnected cases more efficiently.

By effectively filtering matters in Lawcus Legal Practice Management System, you can enhance your productivity, organization, and overall efficiency in handling legal matters.
