Two-way SMS in Lawcus allows your firm to send and receive text messages directly within the platform. This feature centralizes all SMS communication, enabling your team to view, manage, and respond to client messages without switching tools.

A single firm phone number is assigned and shared across users, ensuring consistent communication and visibility across the team.


Pricing

Two-way SMS is offered as a paid add-on and includes both a recurring user fee and a one-time number registration cost:

  • User Subscription:

    Each user with SMS access is billed $10 per user/month.

  • Number Registration (One-Time Fee):

    A one-time fee is required to provision your firm’s SMS number:

    • $50 for a local number

    • $150 for a toll-free number

This registration fee is charged only once during the initial setup. Subsequent users can be added without any additional cost for number registration.


Enabling Two-Way SMS

Two-way SMS is a paid add-on and is not enabled by default. It must be requested through support.

To enable it:

When submitting your request, include: Number and email of users who need access


Setting Up Your SMS Number

Once the feature is enabled, you can select and configure your SMS number.

Steps:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps & Integrations → Text Message

  2. Click Add Phone Number


  3. Choose your preferred number type:

    • Local Number (recommended for faster setup)

    • Toll-Free Number

  4. Select a number and click Purchase

  5. Assign a name (e.g., firm name or user name)

  6. Share the selected number with the Lawcus team for registration

Note:

Toll-free numbers require additional registration and carrier approval, which may extend the setup timeline compared to local numbers.

  • Local number registration typically takes 3–5 business days

  • Toll-free number registration typically takes 3–4 weeks, depending on approval

  • SMS functionality is activated only after the registration process is completed

  • The assigned number will be used for all incoming and outgoing SMS communication across your team.


How Two-Way SMS Works

Once the feature is activated, all SMS communication can be managed directly within Lawcus, allowing your team to stay aligned and responsive.

  • Send SMS messages to clients without leaving the platform

  • Receive and view client replies in real time

  • Access all conversations in a centralized thread for better visibility

  • Allow any authorized team member to view and respond to messages as needed


Adding Additional Users

You can easily extend SMS access to more users as your team grows. To grant access, simply contact Lawcus support with the required user details.

  • Additional users are billed at $10 per user/month

  • No additional number registration fee is required for new users
