How to Add and View Internal Notes on Invoices in Lawcus

Add Internal Notes to invoices to securely document internal billing information.

Written by Devanshi Kackar

Internal Notes in Lawcus let your team store private information related to an invoice. These notes are intended for your firm's internal use only and are never visible to clients.

You can use Internal Notes to keep track of:

  • Client-specific information

  • Billing preferences or billing settings

  • Internal instructions for your team

  • Invoice-related reminders

  • Any additional details your firm wants to reference later

These notes help your team stay informed while ensuring that confidential information remains internal.

How to Add Internal Notes

Follow these steps to add Internal Notes to an invoice:

  1. Navigate to Billing.

  2. Open an existing invoice by clicking Edit, or create a new invoice by selecting New Invoice.

    • You can also create a new invoice directly from a Matter or Lead.

  3. Locate the Internal Notes section.

  4. Enter any information your team needs, such as detailed notes, billing instructions, reminders, or descriptions.

  5. Save the note.

Your Internal Notes will be stored with the invoice and will only be accessible to members of your firm.

Viewing Internal Notes

Once an Internal Note is saved, Lawcus automatically records:

  • The team member who created the note.

  • The date and time the note was added.

This provides a clear history, making it easy for everyone on your team to review and track internal communications.

Note: Internal Notes are for your firm's records only. They are never included on client-facing invoices or shared with clients, making them a safe place to document internal billing information and team communication.
