The Matter Updated trigger automatically starts a workflow when an existing matter is updated and the changes are saved in Lawcus. Use it to automate actions such as creating follow-up tasks, sending emails or text messages, updating records, or initiating other workflow actions.
Configure the Matter Updated Trigger
When creating a workflow, the first step is to choose a trigger.
Under Step 1 – Setup Trigger Type, click the Select trigger dropdown and choose Matter Updated.
Matter Updated – The workflow will begin whenever an existing matter is updated and the changes are saved.
After selecting the trigger, click Continue to proceed to the next step.
Note: Each time a matter is updated and saved, the workflow is triggered. If you update the same matter multiple times, the workflow will run for each update unless filtered by Entry Rules.
Configure the Workflow Setup
The Matter Updated trigger does not require any additional setup.
Once selected, the workflow will be evaluated whenever an existing matter is updated and saved.
An update can include changes to:
Matter details
Custom fields
Other matter information
Add Entry Rules
After configuring the trigger, you can optionally expand the Entry Rules section.
Entry Rules allow you to add additional conditions that must be met before the workflow executes. This provides greater flexibility by allowing you to filter updated matters based on specific criteria, such as custom fields, tags, or other matter attributes.
For detailed instructions on configuring Entry Rules, see How to setup Entry Rules in Lawcus.
Summary
The Matter Updated trigger starts a workflow whenever an existing matter is updated and saved. No additional trigger setup is required, but you can use Entry Rules to specify the conditions that determine when the workflow should run.
