How to Set Up the Contact Created Trigger in Lawcus

Learn how to set up the Contact Created trigger to automatically run workflows whenever a new contact is added to Lawcus.

Written by Devanshi Kackar

The Contact Created trigger automatically starts a workflow when a new contact, such as a person or company, is created and saved in Lawcus. Use it to streamline contact onboarding by sending welcome messages, creating leads or matters, or assigning follow-up tasks to your team.

Configure the Contact Created Trigger

When creating a workflow:

  1. Under Step 1 – Setup Trigger Type, click the Select Trigger dropdown.

  2. Select Contact Created.

  3. Click Continue.

The workflow will start whenever a new contact is created and saved.

Add Entry Rules

If you don't want the workflow to run for every single new contact, you can expand the optional Entry Rules section.

Entry Rules act as smart filters. They allow you to set specific conditions that a contact must meet before the workflow executes, such as checking if an email exists or filtering by contact title, specific custom fields, or tags.

For detailed instructions on configuring these filters, check out our Entry Rules article.

Select Actions

Once your trigger and any optional Entry Rules are configured, click Continue to choose the automated actions you want Lawcus to take. You can pick any action from the available list to fit your workflow needs, such as:

  • Creating a new Lead or Matter automatically for the new contact.

  • Sending a welcome email or SMS message directly to the client.

  • Adding tasks or reminders for team members to follow up.

Summary

The Contact Created trigger helps you kickstart your intake and client management workflows immediately after adding a new contact to Lawcus. With zero extra setup required, you can pair it with Entry Rules for targeting and automate key next steps—like creating leads, adding tasks, or sending welcome messages—in seconds.
