The Matter Moved to Stage trigger automatically starts a workflow when an existing matter moves from one stage to another. Use it to keep matters progressing by automating actions such as sending client updates, assigning follow-up tasks, creating documents, generating invoices, or setting reminders.
Configure the Matter Moved to Stage Trigger
When creating a workflow:
Under Step 1 – Setup Trigger Type, click the Select Trigger dropdown.
Select Matter Moved to Stage.
Click Continue.
The workflow will start when a matter is moved to a new stage.
Configure the Workflow Setup
In Step 2 – Setup, select a Pipeline and Stage to determine which stage movements should trigger the workflow.
Any Pipeline and Any Stage
Leave both Pipeline and Stage blank.
The workflow will run whenever a matter moves to any stage in any pipeline across your firm.
Specific Pipeline and Any Stage
Select a Pipeline and leave Stage blank.
The workflow will run whenever a matter moves between stages within the selected pipeline.
For example, selecting the Family Law pipeline will trigger the workflow whenever a matter changes stages within that pipeline.
Specific Pipeline and Stage
Select both a Pipeline and Stage.
The workflow will run only when a matter is moved directly into the selected stage.
For example, selecting the Family Law pipeline and Case Assessment stage will trigger the workflow when a matter moves into the Case Assessment stage.
Add Entry Rules
To make your trigger even more precise, expand the optional Entry Rules section.
Entry Rules act as filters to ensure the workflow runs only if the matter meets specific conditions, such as having a certain tag, practice area, or custom field value.

Select Actions
Once your trigger and entry rules are set, click Continue to choose the actions you want Lawcus to perform automatically. You can pick any action from the available actions list based on your needs, such as adding tasks, sending emails or SMS messages, creating documents, generating invoices, or setting reminders.
