How to Set Up the Task Completed Trigger in Lawcus

Learn how to set up the Task Completed trigger to automatically move workflows forward whenever a task is finished.

The Task Completed trigger automatically kicks off a workflow whenever an existing task is marked as completed in Lawcus. This is ideal for keeping your firm's processes moving without manual intervention, allowing you to automatically advance stage statuses, send updates to clients, or trigger the next set of tasks the moment work is finished.


Configure the Task Completed Trigger

When creating a workflow:

  • Under Step 1 – Setup Trigger Type, click the Select Trigger dropdown.

  • Select Task completed.

  • Click Continue.

The workflow will execute automatically whenever a task status is updated to completed across your firm.


Add Entry Rules

Since tasks are completed frequently, expanding the optional Entry Rules section is especially useful here. Entry Rules allow you to specify exact conditions that must be met before the workflow runs.

For example, you can set a rule so the workflow only triggers if the completed task has a specific title (e.g., "Initial Intake Form Reviewed"), belongs to a specific category, or is associated with a particular pipeline.

Select Actions

After configuring your trigger and entry rules, click Continue to add your desired automated actions. You can pick any action from the available list based on your workflow, such as:

  • Updating a Matter or Lead (e.g., moving it to a new stage or updating custom fields).

  • Sending automated Emails or SMS messages to team members or clients.

  • Creating follow-up Tasks or Time Entries automatically.
