How to Configure Billing Settings in Lawcus

Billing Settings in Lawcus let you configure key billing preferences, including time tracking, expenses, taxes, invoice templates, billing rates, and invoice approvals. Use the dedicated sections below to learn what each setting controls and access detailed configuration guidance.

How to Access Billing Settings

Follow these steps to access your Billing Settings:

  1. Click your Avatar in the top-right corner.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. From the left navigation panel, click Billing Settings.

You will find several configuration options within Billing Settings. Each option is explained below.


1. Activity Settings

Activity Settings allow you to configure how time and expense entries are managed within Lawcus. From this section, you can:

  • Configure time rounding for time entries.

  • Require a Matter when creating activities.

  • Make activity descriptions mandatory.

  • Configure expense settings, including differentiating between Soft Costs and Hard Costs.

2. UTBMS Codes

UTBMS (Uniform Task-Based Management System) Codes are standardized billing codes used to categorize legal services on invoices. Lawcus provides built-in UTBMS codes to help firms maintain consistent billing practices.

3. Tax Settings
