Migrating your data from PracticePanther to Lawcus is a critical step in transitioning to a new legal practice management system. This guide will walk you through the process, ensuring a smooth and successful data migration.

The exporting functionality for some features depends on the subscription plan you have on Practice Panther.


​Steps to Export Data from PracticePanther

Steps to Export Matters

  1. Click Matters in the menu bar at the top of your screen.

  2. Set the Filters:

    1. Assigned To: Any User

    2. Originated By: Any User

    3. Status: Any

    4. Tags: No Tag should be selected

    5. Created Date: All Time

    6. Choose Column: All columns should be selected.

  3. After that, click on the Export Icon followed by Export All.


Steps to Export ​Contacts

  1. Click Contacts in the menu bar at the top of your screen.

  2. Set the Filters:

    1. Select All Contacts

    2. Assigned To: Any User

    3. Status: Active

    4. Tags: No Tag should be selected

    5. Created Date: All Time

    6. Choose Column: All columns should be selected.

  3. After that, click on the Export Icon followed by Export All.

Steps to Export Time Entries

  1. Click Time Entries in the menu bar at the top of your screen.

  2. Set the Filters:

    1. Billed By: Any User

    2. Status: Any

    3. Tags: No Tag should be selected

    4. Date Range: All Time

    5. Choose Column: All columns should be selected.

  3. After that, click on the Export Icon followed by Export All.

Steps to Export Expenses

  1. Click Billing in the menu bar at the top of your screen. Then select Expenses from the dropdown.

  2. Set the Filters:

    1. Billed By: Any User

    2. Status: Any

    3. Tags: No Tag should be selected

    4. Date Range: All Time

    5. Choose Column: All columns should be selected.

  3. After that, click on the Export Icon followed by Export All.

Steps to Export Flat Fees

  1. Click Billing in the menu bar at the top of your screen. Then select Flat Fees from the dropdown.

  2. Set the Filters:

    1. Billed By: Any User

    2. Status: Any

    3. Tags: No Tag should be selected

    4. Date Range: All Time

    5. Choose Column: All columns should be selected.

  3. After that, click on the Export Icon followed by Export All.

​Steps to Export Items

  1. Click Billing in the menu bar at the top of your screen.

  2. Then select Items from the dropdown.​

  3. Choose Column: All columns should be selected.

  4. After that, click on the Export Icon followed by Export All.

Steps to Export Invoices

  1. Click Billing in the menu bar at the top of your screen. Then select Invoices from the dropdown.

  2. Set the Filters:

    1. Select All Invoices

    2. Assigned To: Contact

    3. Select Any User

    4. Tags: No Tag should be selected

    5. Date: Bill Date

    6. Time: All Time

    7. Status: Any

    8. Choose Column: All columns should be selected.

  3. After that, click on the Export Icon followed by Export All.

Steps to Export Activities

From Activities, you can export Tasks, Events, Calls, Emails, Notes, Secure Messages, and Text Messages.

  1. Click Activities in the menu bar at the top of your screen.

  2. Set the Filters:

    1. Select All Activities

    2. Status: Any

    3. Assigned To: Any User

    4. Created By: Any User

    5. Tags: No Tag should be selected

    6. Date Range: Any Time

  3. After that, click on the Export Icon followed by Export All.

Steps to Export Reports

Let's understand this with Trust Account Reconciliation Report.

  1. Click Reports in the menu bar at the top of your screen.

  2. Then select Payments.

  3. Look for the Trust Account Reconciliation Report and click on View.

  4. Select a date 2 days later and then Export.

Note: If there are multiple bank accounts, please download the report for each bank account.
