Lawcus is a comprehensive and innovative practice management system designed to meet the needs of law firms of all sizes. The system is built on a secure cloud-based platform, ensuring your data is always safe and accessible. With Lawcus, you can streamline your workflow, improve productivity and efficiency, and increase revenue.

Key features of Lawcus include:

This guide will take you through the steps to get started with Lawcus and maximize its features.

System Requirements: Lawcus is a web-based platform with no specific system requirements. However, it works best with the latest version of Google Chrome.

Lawcus User Interface:

  1. Homepage: The homepage, accessible after login, offers access to the Dashboard, Reports, Favorite Matters, and all other tabs such as Tasks, Calendar, Contacts, Leads, Matters, Activities, Invoices, Accounts, and Workflows.

  2. Avatar: Your profile image is located in the top right corner and provides access to Settings, Lawcus Help & Support, and the option to log out. You can also manage your subscription and organization from here.

  3. Lawcus Settings: Access the setting window under Avatar to change profile settings, firm settings, bill settings, and app and integration settings.

  4. Notifications: Check all notifications by clicking on the bell icon, located to the left of the Avatar icon.

  5. Add Button: Use the Add button to add new leads, contacts, matters, tasks, events, activities, invoices, payments, trust requests, and phone logs.

  6. Timer: Click on the timer to record real-time time entries.

  7. Search Bar: Use the search bar to find matters, clients, invoices, and documents across the platform.

  8. Chat: The Chat Icon, located in the bottom right corner, allows you to send a message to the Lawcus Team, access help documents, and chat.

Lawcus Set-up:

  1. Create Your Firm Branding in Lawcus: To personalize Lawcus for your firm, you'll need to add your firm name and logo. Here's how:

    a. Log in to Lawcus

    b. Go to Settings from the user avatar icon

    c. Select Firm Settings

    d. Click on Company Info

    e. Fill in your firm details and upload your company logo

    f. Add all other relevant details

    g. Save the changes

    Next, you can customize the account settings for all firm members.

    a. Go to Firm Settings

    b. Click on Organization Preferences

    c. Set the language, currency, naming convention, and date format

    d. Update the changes

  2. Firm Preferred Settings: Lawcus offers a range of customizable settings to meet the needs of your law firm. With Lawcus, you have complete control over your firm's settings, giving you the flexibility and efficiency you need to succeed. With its user-friendly interface, you can create the following:

    a. Custom Fields: Create custom fields or groups at the matter and contact level to ensure you have all the information you need at your fingertips.

    b. Practice Area Defaults & Reminders: Keep your firm organized with default set-ups for practice areas and customizable reminders for due invoices, tasks, and events.

    c. Client Portal: Make all necessary changes to your client portal to ensure that it meets your firm's needs.

    d. Activity Category: Create or customize activity categories to ensure your tasks are appropriately categorized.

    e. Document Templates: Maintain a repository of document templates for easy access and consistency.

    f. Other customizations: Customize matter numbering, practice areas, relation types, matter tags, contact tags, task tags, event tags, and matter locations to meet your firm's specific requirements.

  3. Set Up Your User Preferences: Lawcus allows you to personalize your user settings to make the software work for you.

    a. Profile Settings: Here, you can update your name, email, timezone, and password for your Lawcus account.

    b. Email Signature: You can add an email signature to emails sent from Lawcus and copy the ones you already use in Gmail or Outlook.

    c. Notification Settings: Control the notifications you receive from Lawcus via email.

    d. 2FA: You can enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your Lawcus account for added security.

    e. Practice Rate and Target: Set your default hourly rate if you do hourly billing. You need not update the hourly rate if your rates are decided at the matter level.

  4. Bill Settings:

    a. Rounding Time Settings: Easily adjust how time is rounded for billing purposes.

    b. UTBMS Code Selection: Choose the Uniform Task-Based Management System codes that fit your billing needs.

    c. User/Group Hourly Rates: Set custom hourly rates for individual users or user groups.

    d. Tax Configuration: Define your taxes, values, types, and pre-tax applicability precisely.

    e. Invoice Template Design: Create and personalize your firm's invoices to match your brand and requirements.

  5. Apps and Integrations: With this, streamline your workflow seamlessly, integrating multiple systems and software, including email and calendar, scheduler, document management system (DMS), online payment platform, accounting platforms, and more. Integration can be achieved through either accounts or API tokens, making your life easier and boosting productivity.

  6. Manage Team & Users: Access the User Management feature by following this path: Avatar >> Manage Your Organization.
    Here, you can invite your team members to Lawcus, assign roles, define user groups, and set access permissions. You can also add job titles for each user for better organization and clarity.

    a. Add or invite users to Lawcus: Inviting your teammates to Lawcus helps make real-time workplace collaboration a reality, bringing absolute ease, convenience, and swift fulfillment of tasks from research to due diligence, brief writing, and a variety of others.

    b. Create and assign user roles: Depending on your goal, you can create new categories of user roles with different or similar permissions. Each role has a definite number of rights it can exercise, types of data it can access, and features it can use, among other capabilities defined by the administrator.

  7. Set Up Pipelines and Stages for Case Management: Pipelines help organize cases into different practice areas. For example, you can create pipelines for each practice area and set up various processes.

  8. Sync Your Email and Calendar: Lawcus integrates with Gmail and Outlook to sync your email and calendar.

  9. Other Important Features: Easily manage all aspects of your legal practice with the following features:

    a. Contacts: Create and manage your client and professional contacts in one place.

    b. Matters: Organize and keep track of all your cases with ease.

    c. Tasks: Assign, manage, and complete tasks with ease.

    d. Leads: Effortlessly manage and organize your leads.

    e. Calendars: Streamline your schedule with the ability to sync with other calendars and share with team members.

    f. Activities: Keep all your timesheets, expenses, and flat fees organized.

    g. Invoices: Keep all your invoicing information in one place, including trust requests, credit requests, and payment recordings.

    h. Accounts: Manage your accounts with full functionality, including trust and credit requests, matter-to-matter transfers, account-to-account transfers, deposits, and withdrawals. Invite your team members and manage their access through the Avatar >> Manage Your Organization feature.
